I'll certainly never use Budget again and neither will anyone I know.
Amazing service. We've used other car rental services before but, hands down, Budget wins in this category The most quick, kind, and efficient service from start to finish. Sharon the manager is exceptional in public relations. We will definitely be using Budget again.
I'm not from this side of the country, but I recently had to drive from Connecticut to Vermont and this was my first time getting a rental. I did reserve the vehicle a week in advance along with a GPS unit, but I have to say, once I got there in person, it was a fairly smooth and quick process. Agents were nice and friendly, shuttle service to and from location was awesome (very glad it was one less thing I had to worry about). I was also surprised to see the car was already outside with the key in it, ready for me to drive. I didn't have to wait for the car to be brought out. Insurance wasn't a problem because I got it apparently from a "third party" when I booked my flight together with my hotel and rental car. I noticed a few minor cosmetic faults, but the security guard noted them all before I left. Overall it was a great first time experience, I will definitely use Budget again in the future. Reasonable low price, and the car had excellent fuel mileage (drove a Nissan Versa). Thank you Budget for making this trip A LOT smoother.
I too had magically agreed to an upgrade simply by not noticing it was added to my rental agreement with no mention if it.
After much tooing and froing I received a 50% refund and a half hearted apology.
If you have the mis-fortune of booking with these charlatans be sure to tell them you don't want an upgrade and read every word if your agreement before signing.
Disgusting company practice.
They are thieves. They charged me an upgrade fee that they didn't even tell me about. The car was prepaid and when I returned it, they said I was being charged an additional $43.80 because of an upgrade that I did not want and was not told about. I called Budget customer service and they refused to refund my money because I "signed" the contract. I signed the bottom and did not initial anywhere near the upgrade charge. They are scam artists. They stole my money. Customer service said they could refund me $17 and they could not do any better than that. They lost a customer over a small amount of money. BEWARE! This location will steal your money, and customer service will not give it back.
Sharon at the front desk was flat out rude and had a nasty attitude. She told us that we had a Jeep Liberty and we would not be able to fit our luggage. She offered us an upgrade for $40 more per day, we said no. Then she said $20 a day, and we said no. Then she said, "Oh you're dropping off at 2pm I can do $10 a day." I said, "so $50 more?," just to clarify and she said yes. When we went to sign, the total was $80 more. I said what happened to $50 and she said there are taxes on everything. I said $30 on $50 no way, and she said no it was $60 because you're dropping your car off at 2. I said we don't want the upgrade anymore we will stick to the original car, meanwhile our card had already been charged so I said we have a budget we are trying to stick to and I wasn't anticipating $80 more on our first day. She then tells me that if we can't even afford $80 more while on vacation then we shouldn't be agreeing to upgrades. I told her she lied to us about the additional amount and she said "if it makes you feel better you can abuse me, I don't care." I asked for a manager, and she said they don't have one there, so I asked for the managers name and she refused to give me a name. I then asked for the name of her district manager and she said she didn't know. I asked again and she rolled her eyes and said maybe it's like Andrew or something. When we finally got the receipt and paperwork we went to our car and had a Subaru not a Jeep Liberty and it was plenty big enough. If we had known that, we would of NEVER went through any of that. Awful, Awful experience. When you are beginning your vacation you should be happy and excited, Sharon took that away from us.
Disgraceful.
